Nov. 6: Colloquium concludes fall series with poetry reading
Monday, January 1, 0001
An award-winning poet will read from his most recent book Nov. 6 at 5 p.m. in the Marx Center at Hood College.
Jericho Brown, assistant professor of English and creative writing at Emory University, is the author of The New Testament, a collection of poems that examines race, masculinity and sexuality. Brown’s first book, Please, won the American Book Award. His poems have appeared in journals and anthologies, including The New Republic, Oxford American and The Best American Poetry. He is the recipient of the Whiting Writers Award and fellowships from the National Endowment for the Arts, among others.
Brown’s books will be available for purchase at the event and at the College’s bookstore.
The reading is part the College’s annual Center for the Humanities colloquium series, which is funded in part by a National Endowment for the Humanities Challenge Grant.
Spring colloquium events include a panel of students from diverse backgrounds who will reflect on their concepts of home; and a Catalan author who will discuss how the theme of home has appeared in her work and affected her writing.
