When people describe their workplace or community group as if they're "like family," my neck hair rises. The “practice” in practicing self-care
A few years ago, I began using the acronym PREP in my teaching. It indicates to my students the learning methods I find most helpful: Prepare, Reflect, Engage, and Practice Self-Care. Throughout the semester, I check in about how PREP is working for them, if they use it. Some students are surprised to see self-care mentioned, others feel supported by it. Health Canada report summarizes feedback on reimbursements for surrogacy and egg donation
In 2016 and 2017 Health Canada solicited feedback related to drafting regulations to clarify sections of the Assisted Human Reproduction Act. This month they released the "What We Heard Report," which disseminates feedback received from the summer 2017 call for public comments. Lingering indigestion from my course on animal ethics
Puppies, Pigs, and the PolisĀ had it's final class meeting (along with a special vegan brunch) last week. This course examined how animal ethicists use feminist relational theory, which usually refers to views that are grounded in the claim that people are constituted in and through relationships.
